Mohsen Rezaei, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has stated that Iran will not abandon its position in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz until its “full rights” are recognized.

In remarks to Iranian media, Rezaei said the United States is wary of prolonged conflict, while asserting that Iran is prepared for a long-term confrontation if necessary. His comments come amid heightened regional tensions and growing concerns over maritime security in the Gulf.

He further claimed that Iranian military capabilities remain capable of targeting hostile naval assets, stating that Iranian forces are prepared to respond to any aggression in the region. Rezaei emphasized that Iran would maintain its strategic posture in the Strait of Hormuz until what he described as its legitimate rights are fully acknowledged.

He also questioned the narrative surrounding Iran’s naval strength, arguing that despite claims of military pressure, opposing forces have not acted freely in the Strait of Hormuz. His remarks appeared aimed at reinforcing deterrence and signaling continued Iranian influence over one of the world’s most critical shipping routes.

The Strait of Hormuz remains a vital corridor for global energy supplies, and any escalation in the area has the potential to impact international trade and oil markets significantly. Analysts note that such statements often reflect broader geopolitical messaging amid ongoing tensions between Iran and Western powers.

The comments add to a series of increasingly firm statements from Iranian officials regarding maritime security and regional sovereignty, underscoring the fragile security environment in the Gulf region.
